Studying in Australia from Bangladesh: visa data and what to check

Bangladesh is now one of the largest sources of Australian student visa applications, and the Department of Home Affairs publishes figures by country. This guide uses that official report to show what recent decisions for Bangladeshi applicants looked like, and what to check about your own evidence requirements. Past figures are not a prediction for any applicant, and rules change.

Bangladeshi grants were also fourth by number

In the same period the report lists Bangladesh fourth for student visas granted, at 8,454 visas, behind China, India and Nepal. Source

About 26,600 Bangladeshi students held student visas in Australia at end-2025

The grant rate for Bangladeshi applicants outside Australia fell in late 2025

The report's grant rate (grants divided by decisions) for Bangladeshi applicants located outside Australia was 81.6 percent for decisions in October to December 2025, compared with 97.8 percent in the previous quarter and 95.7 percent a year earlier. This is a quarterly figure and does not predict any individual decision. Source

Granted applications from Bangladesh outside Australia took a median of 19 days

Table 4.03 of the report shows that for visas granted in October to December 2025 to Bangladeshi applicants outside Australia, the median processing time was 19 calendar days, with the middle half between 12 and 27 days. Slower or refused cases are not in that figure. Source

Home Affairs does not publish country evidence levels

General note for all countries: study visa evidence levels are reviewed in March and September, and the Department does not publish the levels of countries or education providers. Media reports about a particular country's level are not an official source. To see your own financial and English evidence requirements, use the Document Checklist Tool. Source

Bangladesh joined the Hague Apostille Convention in 2025

The Hague Conference status table shows Bangladesh's accession entering into force on 30 March 2025. Australia has been a party since 1995. If your institution asks for apostilled copies of Bangladeshi documents, ask which authority issues them. Source
