What is different from India
India is on EMGS's list of countries that need a Single Entry Visa
EMGS lists India among the countries whose nationals need a Single Entry Visa (SEV) before entering Malaysia. Your institution and EMGS arrange the approval letter, and you then apply for the SEV before travel. Source
India is on the EMGS Graduate Pass list, with an extra condition and a deadline
EMGS lists India among the nationalities that can apply for the Graduate Pass. For Indian and Chinese nationals the extension of this service is valid until 31 December 2026, approval is case by case, and the applicant must provide a letter of good conduct from the institution or embassy. If you plan to use it, check EMGS for any extension. Source
Immigration's list notes a time-limited visa exemption for Indian citizens
The Malaysian Immigration Department's visa requirement list carries a note that Indian citizens are visa exempt until 31 December 2026. That note concerns entry in general and does not replace the student pass process, so ask EMGS whether you still need the SEV step. Source
Indian Class 10 alone is not enough for direct bachelor's entry
An ApplyBoard guide says that Indian Class 10 (10 years of schooling) does not meet Malaysia's 12-year rule for a bachelor's degree, so a foundation or diploma is needed first, while Class 12 (CBSE or state board) is eligible subject to grades. Check each university's entry page. Source
Some sources say Indian students screen at an EMGS clinic before the approval letter
An ApplyBoard guide says students from countries such as India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are required to screen at an EMGS-registered clinic in their home country, and that EMGS may also ask for a Pre-VAL Medical Report. We could not confirm this on the EMGS pages, so ask your institution which screening applies. Source
India is in the Hague Apostille table, Malaysia is not
The Hague Conference status table lists India as a party since 2005 and did not list Malaysia when we checked, so do not assume an Indian apostille settles document checks for Malaysia. Ask your institution which attestation it wants. Source

- Ask your institution to apply for your approval letter through EMGS and confirm which health screening applies to you.

- If you hope to use the Graduate Pass, check EMGS for the current deadline and the good-conduct letter requirement.
