← All countries for Pakistani students

Germany loves Pakistan.

Pakistani enrollment in Germany has grown fast this decade, drawn by zero tuition and a real post-study work path — and unlike India, China or Vietnam, Pakistani applicants skip the APS academic-credential interview entirely (as of 2026). The honest trade: Germany's visa process rewards a clean, consistent file more than any other factor.

Pakistan's route to Germany mirrors the other South Asian corridors on this site: zero-tuition public universities, English-taught engineering, IT and data-science master's, and a market that already knows how to hire international TU9/Fachhochschule graduates. The honours-level STEM pipeline out of NUST, UET, GIKI and the big public universities feeds directly into it.

What's different from India or Vietnam: Germany's missions in Pakistan don't run the separate APS academic-credential interview, so your document check happens through uni-assist and the embassy instead. That makes the paperwork itself the critical path — HEC-attested transcripts and certificates, a genuine and internally consistent file, and funding you can document cleanly are what actually move an application, not which city you apply from.

A Pakistani Germany already exists.

You're not the first — landing into a living community is a practical advantage, not a nice-to-have.

Where Pakistanis cluster

Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, and the NRW cities (Cologne, Dortmund) have the established Pakistani communities; most technical universities have a Pakistani or combined South-Asian student association running housing leads and the first-semester WhatsApp groups.

Faith & food

Mosques and halal shops operate in every university city; Pakistani/South Asian groceries concentrate in Berlin (Neukölln), Frankfurt, and the Ruhr. Community iftars and Eid gatherings are a genuine landing pad in the bigger cities.

Shared ground with India and Bangladesh

The practical playbook — uni-assist, the blocked account, Werkstudent-to-full-time conversion — is close enough to the India and Bangladesh corridors that student forums and WhatsApp groups often overlap across all three.

The Pakistan checklist, in order

  1. 01

No APS — but HEC attestation still matters

Pakistan is not currently on Germany's APS list, so there's no separate academic-credential interview before your visa appointment (verify with the embassy, as rules can change). Your documents are checked through uni-assist and the mission instead — get transcripts and certificates properly attested (HEC attestation is the standard route for using Pakistani credentials abroad) before you apply.

  2. 02

    Blocked account early

About €11,904/year (2026 figure — verify the current one). Fintiba/Expatrio open online in days; fund it via a documented transfer and keep every receipt.

  3. 03

    uni-assist for most applications

~€75 first application. VPD (preliminary review) can take weeks in peak season — start it as soon as transcripts are ready.

  4. 04

    English test, not German

IELTS 6.0–6.5 typical for English-taught programs; a few accept a medium-of-instruction letter instead. The program page decides.

  5. 05

    Book the visa slot early

Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore visa-section appointments move fast in peak season — book the day your admission letter lands, with a complete, consistent document set.

Deep-dives: the 10-step relocation course, blocked account, finding a room, student jobs, what's actually tuition-free, the student visa checklist.

What it costs from Pakistan

  • Tuition: €0 at most public universities (semester fee €150–€400 includes transport); private €5,000–€20,000/yr.
  • Blocked account: ~€11,904/yr (2026 figure — verify). uni-assist: ~€75.
  • Monthly life: €800–€1,200 depending on city (Munich highest, eastern cities cheapest).
  • Werkstudent income: €14–€18/hr — most students substantially self-finance from semester 2.

Questions students from Pakistan ask

Do Pakistani applicants need an APS certificate?

No, as of 2026 — Pakistan is not on Germany's APS list (that applies mainly to China, India, Vietnam and Mongolia). Pakistani applicants still submit full, verifiable academic records through uni-assist, and rules can change, so verify the current list with the mission before you apply.

What should an HEC attestation cover?

Pakistan's Higher Education Commission is the standard body for attesting degrees and transcripts for use abroad. Get your academic documents attested before you apply — a clean, consistent, properly attested file is the single biggest factor in a smooth process.

Why do Pakistani visa applications get refused, honestly?

Document consistency and unclear financing dominate, the same two causes behind refusals from every corridor on this site — not grades or potential. A genuine, internally consistent file plus a properly funded blocked account addresses both. Nobody can guarantee a visa; anyone who promises one is selling you something.

Can I bring my spouse?

Family reunification exists with fund and housing requirements, filed separately — most students settle in first. Verify current rules with the mission.
