The programme

This consecutive Master's degree programme is a more research-oriented Master of Science programme, which provides theoretical knowledge and, in particular, methodological skills enabling students to independently expand their scientific knowledge. Research methods and strategies play a central role in the course content. In this way, the Master's programme not only prepares students for a professional career, but also for an academic career.
How it is organised
The IBA Master's degree is offered in five alternative tracks: ATL, FACT, FINE, DSDS and M&M. For students who do not wish to specialise in any of these fields, the cross-sectional Master's programme (General Management) offers an alternative.
Study abroad
In keeping with the international orientation of the programme, you will spend a semester of at least three months at a foreign university during your studies (semester abroad), usually in the fifth or sixth semester.
Internships
The Career Centre supports you in finding and organising both study-related mandatory internships and voluntary internships.
Part-time work
At present, it is possible to find an acceptable and well-paid job in Frankfurt (Oder) or in Berlin, which can be reached within one hour.
Degree
Joint or double degree with a partner university.
Support for international students
Whether you want to complete one of our study programmes and graduate with an academic degree from the European University Viadrina, or plan a one- or two-semester exchange stay, we look forward to welcoming you.

From your country

General requirements for master's applicants. Rules change — confirm with the university and your local German mission.

🇮🇳 Applying from India
  • An APS India certificate is mandatory before your visa appointment — processing takes weeks, so start it the day you decide to apply.
  • Budget for the blocked account (€11,904 for one year in 2026 — verify the current amount with the German Embassy).
  • IELTS/TOEFL is typically required; some universities accept a Medium-of-Instruction letter — check the official program page.

🇳🇬 Applying from Nigeria
  • Proof of funds is usually a blocked account; open it early — transfers and verification take time.
  • WAEC/NECO results are assessed via uni-assist for most universities; a Studienkolleg year may be required for bachelor's entry.
  • Visa appointment slots in Lagos and Abuja book out months ahead — book as soon as you have an admission letter.

🇻🇳 Applying from Vietnam
  • APS Vietnam certification applies to Vietnamese applicants — schedule the document check before university deadlines.
  • Most universities want IELTS 6.0–6.5 for English-taught programs; requirements vary by program.
  • Plan finances around the blocked account plus health insurance — both are checked at the visa stage.

🇧🇩 Applying from Bangladesh
  • Document verification is strict: keep certificates, transcripts, and bank papers consistent and genuine — discrepancies sink applications.
  • The blocked account is the standard proof of funds. You do not need an admission letter to open one, so set it up alongside your applications.
  • Apply to several programs in parallel — visa processing in Dhaka can be slow, and an early admission letter buys you time.

Living in Frankfurt (Oder)

Aerial view of the red-roofed main building of the Viadrina university with the Europa-Universität tower block behind it and the frozen Oder in the distance

A small university town on the Polish border, with a student body that is almost half international.

Frankfurt (Oder) sits on the west bank of the Oder, and the river is the border with Poland. Walk across the bridge and you are in Słubice, which belonged to the same town until 1945 and today shares a university campus with it.
